02 — THE TECHNICAL CHALLENGE

Vehicle rental is not standard ecommerce. A booking occupies a specific vehicle for a date range across two depots, so availability has to be calculated per unit and per day rather than as a stock count.

The public site also sells vans and publishes trip content, so the booking engine had to sit inside the existing storefront experience while owning its own data model and rules.

Availability as a Calendar, Not a Counter

Each vehicle carries its own occupancy calendar; searches resolve a date range and depot pair against that calendar before pricing is quoted, so double bookings are impossible by construction.
